I am an insect ecologist, studying the population dynamics of insect herbivores in a multitrophic context. My research interests lie in the following main areas:  (1) Population Ecology, including population dynamics of insect herbivores, underlying mechanisms of population fluctuations, cycles and chaos, time series analysis, and statistical/mathematical modelling, simulation and numerical analysis; and (2) Ecological Pest Management, combining biocontrol agents such as parasitoids with botanical/microbial biopesticides, trap cropping, or host plant resistance.

I use a model tritrophic, crucifer – lepidopteran (Plutella xylostella) – parasitoid (Cotesia vestalis), system to test different hypotheses of theoretical and applied sciences.
